The rapid evolvement of the media sector is increasing the demand for highly qualified experts in the areas of television, broadcast, publishing and new media.
This process leads to the creation of many new fields of activity with increasing problem-complexity. The requirements of employee qualifications in media companies also increase accordingly – the current trend towards specialized qualification is identifiable.
The constant growth of the media sector leads to radical changes: New digital technologies are revolutionizing traditional broadcast media. Increasing competition, the opening of new markets (which means new target groups) come together resulting in a higher demand of coordination and organization in the media sector. Consequently, a new position has emerged over the last few years – “Media Manager” (executive project managers who are responsible for the entire process, from idea generation to implementation). Yet there is a shortage of competent and qualified personnel for filling these positions.
Employees in the media sector are often in the center of all business activities, in terms of online-services, multimedia-applications or other media productions. Their main task is to identify the context of the media market, which requires sector-specific market and product knowledge.
The University of Applied Management offers the opportunity to study in a sector-specific business administration degree program that is compatible with full-time employment. Students and professionals in the media sector can work and study at the same time in an internationally accepted degree program, ensuring the acquisition of necessary media sector competence.
Participants will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in various aspects of management for the complex and demanding tasks unique to media management through a curriculum designed to address specific issues in media management. Skill and language courses addressing the increasing internationalization of business complete the program content.
