FAQ Visa

The process of applying for and receiving a student visa for Germany can be costly and lengthy depending on the country you are applying from. We highly recommend that applicants contact their local embassy or consulate at least three months in advance to find out what your country's requirements are, what the process involves, and what amount of time is necessary to complete this process.

Please be aware that some countries require special documents and/or fees of individuals planning to study in Germany. Which of these requirements you will be asked to provide is set by the home country and not by Germany, thus we have no control over decisions made regarding requirements of significant funding, financial sponsors, etc. This office has no power to influence any decision made by an official of your home country, and we cannot provide you with assistance in these matters.

Many countries require that the applicant open a bank account in Germany and deposit a specific sum of money into this account before the visa will be issued. Please be aware that it is not possible for any member of the University of Applied Management staff to open an account for any individual in Germany. Please contact your local bank for assistance and guidance with regard to this issue, or attempt to contact a German bank directly. We suggest Deutsche Bank at www.db.com.

If you are planning on leaving for Germany initially with a visitor or similar visa, as opposed to a student visa, please check with your local agency before leaving your home country as to whether it will be possible for you to obtain a student visa in Munich. In many cases such students must return to their home countries to apply for student visas in person. We highly recommend obtaining the German student visa before you leave your home country to avoid any complications and additional travel costs.
