What is the value of a degree from the University of Applied Management compared to a degree from another university?
The University of Applied Management is accredited by the Bavarian Ministry of the Sciences, Research and the Arts. Therefore, transferrability of the degrees should be granted.

Can credit points from other universities be transferred?
Yes, there is the opportunity to transfer credit from relevant courses taken at other universities. The examination's office at UAM makes the final decision on each individual case. To pre-check if credit transfer is possible, please complete the online application sheet.

To what extent are foreign languages a pre-requisite for study?
For successful admission to UAM programs, English ability is a pre-requisite. For students who have very poor English skills, intensive preparatory courses may be required before beginning the program. After completing UAM English courses you should be able to operate in English within various work contexts, communicating at an advanced level in both oral and written formats

What is the meaning of the terms “credit points” and “workload”?

Credit points are part of a system to evaluate your achievement. They are a kind of currency that you earn by successfully completing courses or modules. For each degree program, you need a specific number of credit points to graduate.

Workload represents the average working time (incl. in-class preparation, homework, etc.) per student for each course, module or degree program.

A full-time degree program is the equivalent of 1,800 hours per year. For students who are working full-time while studying, the workload is reduced to 1,200 hours per year due to the amount of knowledge-transfer that occurs.

What is ECTS?
ECTS stands for the European Credit Transfer System. It is a standardardized system that defines full-time study in a degree program to be 60 ECTS-credits. By following these guidelines, the University of Applied Management makes sure that academic performance is comparable and transferrable – for students coming from other universities to the University of Applied Management, as well as the other way around.

(Please note, that this is not a guarantee that credits will be transferred!)

The ECTS was developed by the Council of the European Union in order to both introduce a unified process for the accreditation of studies undertaken in foreign countries and to make European programs of studies internationally comparable. The ECTS is currently used by many European universities.

What exactly is a “Bachelor”?
The academic degree “Bachelor” comes from countries with Anglo-Saxon educational systems (e.g. Great Britain, USA, Australia, New Zealand, India, etc.). It is intended to be the first level of educational certification for various careers. A “master” program can be added to this either directly, or after a period of work experience. Both Bachelor and Master degree programs are offered at the University of Applied Management.

What are the regulations for withdrawal?
The student application contract can be cancelled without penalty if notification is received in written form within 30 days after acceptance certification. The deadline must be observed (the postmark counts). Any materials provided by the University of Applied Management must be returned or deleted completely and irrevocably in the case of contract termination. Within this 30-day period, previously paid tuition fees will be refunded, but not the non-refundable application fee.

After studies have commenced, the student has the possibility to cancel the contract within the last three months of the semester. The notification of termination must be submitted in written form.

Assumed that I become unemployed during my studies and am in a momentary situation of financial shortage, is there any possibility to continue my studies?
In the case of an unpredictable emergency (e.g. a long-term illness) it is possible to apply for a temporary delay of tuition fee payment.
